Not really. The DP crash wasn't anywhere near as violent. They did happen at almost the same spot

Around the same spot, but the crash itself seemed more like something halfway between two NASCAR crashes, Kyle Larson's 2013 Nationwide Series crash just a few hundred yards earlier, and Ryan Newman's 2009 flip at Talladega.

Up into the catchfence like Larson's crash, but a flip more like Newman's, all while it being a Daytona Prototype instead of a NASCAR stock car.
